| capital resources | human-made resources that are used to create other goods or srevices |
| developed countries | countries that have a high percentage of manufacturing and quality of life is generally good |
| developing countries | countries that have percentage of agriculture and basic needs are not always met |
| monarchy | type of political system in which power is held by a single person usually born into power who may or may not share power with people |
| demographics | statistical data of human population |
| agriculture | the raising of crops or animals for human use |
| industrialization | the process of changing an economy to rely more on manufacturing and less on farming |
| cultural diffusion | process of spreading new knowledge, skills, or products to other cultures |
| deforestation | the process of clearing forestland |
| non-renewable | a natural resource that our earth cannot replenish |
| irrigation | watering of dry lands by means of canals or pipes |
| desertification | process in which grasslands change to deserts |
| apartheid | system of laws that separated racial and ethnic groups and limited the rights of blacks in south africa |
| religion | system of beliefs, values, or practices based on the teaching of spiritual leader(s) or natural elements |
| boycott | the act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a person, organization, or country as an expression of protest |
| nomadic | people who move from place to place by hunting, herding, or gathering |
| commercial farming | the production of crops and farming animals for sale, usually with the use of modern technology |
