| Rush-Bagot Agreement | An agreement that limited the naval power on the Great Lakes for both the United States and British Canada |
| Convention of 1818 | An agreement that set the border between the United States and Canada at the 49 degree north latitude. |
| James Monroe | This man was our 5th president and he created a foreign policy to deal with the newly independent Latin American states among other things. |
| Adams-Onis Treaty | An agreement in which Spain gave eastern Florida to the United States. |
