Decline of Fuedalism

QuestionAnswer
What did King Henry II do? He insisted a jury formally accuse someone of a crime and heard before a royal judge. He also issued a document that spelled out the kinds traditional rights.
What problems did King Henry II cause? This lead to a serious conflict with the church. It lead to a quarrel between Henry and Thomas Becket,
Who was King John? He was King Henry II's younger son.
What did King John do to "make enemies'? He lost most of the lands the English controlled in France. Made nobles pay high taxes and fought often with the churches.
How did the nobles address King Johns problems? The barons forced a meeting with King John and made him sign the Great Charter(Magna Carta).
What did the Magna Carta do? The Magna Carta was an agreement between the nobles and the king.
Why is the Magna Carta historically important? It showed the rights and freedom for both men and women.
Describe the Model Parliament? King Edward I began to include more people in the government. It included commoners, lower-ranking clergy, and nobles.
How did these events lead to the decline of feudalism? 1. Power was shifting from the lord to the monarchs. 2. Power began shifting toward the common people.
Where did the black death begin? In central Asia, possibly China.
Where did the black death spread? Through China,India, and Europe. Along the silk road and a ship to Ital also helped it travel.
What where symptoms of the black death? Fever, Vomiting, coughing, and sneezing. Along with swelling and bumps. Black and blue blotches also appeared.
How did the Black Death affect the Jews & why? Many people blamed the Jews for the plague. That lead them to persecuted and forced to leave cities and coutnrys.
What did the plague do to the population of Europe? 24 million Europe's died. China's population was reduced by half.
What percent of people died during the impact of the Plague? 33% of the worlds population died.
How did the plague affect the feudal system? The need for workers was high, but there were fewer workers due to the Plague. They left town and jobs to find better stuff.
What was the English peasants war? The peasants entered London and presented their demand for more rights to King Richard II. ZThe leader of the rebellion was killed. The time was coming for feudalism to end.
What was the reason for The Hundred Years' war? England and France fought a series of wars control of lands in France.
What was Joan of Arc's Story? She was a 17-year-old girl who fought in the Hundreds Years Was. and people accused her of being a witch so they burned her at stake.
What was the impact of the war on feudalism? The war helped shift the power from feudal lords to monarchs and common people.
What was the impact of the war on military technology? Knights and castles were less useful, the invention of the longbow and Armies learned how to use gunpowder ti shoot cannon balls.
What was the impact of the war on nationalism? There was a new feelings of nationalism which shifted power away from lords
What was the impact of the war on Peasants? During the war, peasants were forced to serve in the army and pay heavy taxes often.
