How long does the consul run for? A one year term.
What does the consul have power to do? Veto power.
Who are the two types of consuls? An administrator and a military leader.
What was the senate made up of? 300 men.
How long does the senate run for? Lifetime term.
What are the responsibilities of the senate? Advised consul, handled daily problems, dealt with other countries, proposed laws and approved public work projects.
What did the judges do? Enforced law.
Who is the assemblies? All Roman citizens.
What does the assembly do? Declare war and agree to peace.
What did the tribunes do? They protected the Plebian rights.
What were the Twelve Tables? 12 bronze tablets that listed the laws.
Why was the Twelve Tables important? The laws were written down for all to see and applied to everyone.
What types of laws were on the Twelve Tables? Patrician and plebian alike, concerned wills, property rights, and court actions.
