| Term | Definition |

| Prejudice | preconceived opinion that is based on reason or actual experience |
| Discrimination | the unjust prejudicial treatment of different categories of peoples or things |
| Racism | that hate of a different race |
| Segregation | the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race |
| Integration | the intermixing of groups previously segregated |
| Boycott | withdraw from commercial or social relationships with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest |
| Civil Disobedience | the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes or fines, as a peaceful form of political protest |
| Poverty | the state of being extremely poor |
| Medicare | a federal system of health insurance for people over 65 years and for certain younger people with disabilities |
| Medicaid | a federal system of health insurance for those requiring financial assistance |
| Sit-in | a form of protest in which demonstrators occupy a place, refusing to leave until their demands are made |
| Feminist | a peson who supports feminism |
| Interstate | existing or carrying on between states |
| Hispanic | Spain or Spanish speaking countries, esp. those relating to Latin America |
