Prejudice | preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience |
Discrimination | the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, esp. on the grounds of race, age, or sex |
Racism | the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. |
Segregation | the action or state of setting someone or something apart from other people or things or being set apart |
Integration | the action or process of integrating: |
Boycott | withdraw from commercial or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest. |
Civil disobedience | the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest. |
Poverty | the state of being extremely poor |
Medicare | a federal system of health insurance for people over 65 years of age and for certain younger people with disabilities. |
Medicaid | a federal system of health insurance for those requiring financial assistance. |
Sit-in | a form of protest in which demonstrators occupy a place, refusing to leave until their demands are met. |
Feminist | a person who supports feminism |
Interstate | in a different state from one referred to or understood |
Hispanic | of or relating to Spain or to Spanish-speaking countries, esp. those of Latin America |
