Basketball Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Defensive Slide | The act of playing defense while an opponent is dribbling a ball. Feet should not cross over during this action. |
| Free Throw | A shot rewarded from the designated line. Shots are rewarded for fouls while shooting and in the bonus. |
| Bonus | When a team has fouled 7 times or more. Opposing team is rewarded a 1 and 1 free throw on a foul. |
| Double Bonus | When a team has fouled 10 times or more. Opposing team is rewarded two free throws. |
| Press | Applying defensive pressure to a team in either the half court or the full court. |
| Closeout | The act of defending a 3 point shooter when playing zone defense. |
| Popout | A ball that is hit high in the air and caught by the opposing team. |
| Groundout | A ball that is hit on the ground and the out is recorded at first base. |
| Point Guard | Player who brings the ball down the court on offense and starts the offensive set. |
| Shooting Guard | Usually the best 3 point shooter. |
