Changes of Bill of Rights Stated Parliament's right to make laws and levy taxes. Stated that standing, or permanent, armies could not be raised without Parliament's consent. Made it impossible for kings to oppose Parliament or rule without it.
More changes of Bill of Rights Gave citizens the rights to keep arms and to have a trial by jury. Help created a system of government based on the rule of law and a freely elected Parliament.
What did the Bill of Rights do in the end? Became the basis for a limited, or constitutional, monarchy. Gave monarchs clear limits.
Intro of Glorious Revolution Dutch leader, William of Orange, was married to Mary, the daughter of King James II. A group of english nobles invited Will to invade England, they told him the people of England wanted a change of government.
Body of Glorious Revolution Will agreed to invade England because he wanted to become the ruler and wanted to use England's resources to fight France. He marched toward London (Nov) and James rode out to meet him. However, James soldiers deserted him and he retreated back to London.
The rest of the body of Glorious Revolution James and his family fled to France
Closing of glorious Revolution William and Mary took the throne. The Glorious Rev. destroyed the theory of divine right of kingship and laid the foundation for England's limited monarchy.
Causes of Civil War Parliament and Stuarts did not agree on divine right. Charles I took over and created chaos, dissolved Par then recalled them when desperate for money. Par passed Petition of Right, Charles signed it then dissolved Par again. Par created 19 Prop.
More Causes of Civil War (who was it between) Cavaliers supported Charles while Roundheads supported Parliament.
Effects of Civil War Newly elected government was Commonwealth which crushed opposition from Roaylists who supported vote for all men. England was placed under Puritan military law, Par settled religous issues and made Anglican the state religion.
How did the Civil War change England England changed from complete monarchy to constitutional monarchy (limited), which threatened other European monarchs.

Navigation Acts Series of laws that restricted foreign shipping for trade between England and its colonies
Townshend Acts Import duties on tea, lead, glass and paint colors. The money was used to pay royal governors
Boston Massacre Crowd of colonists threaten British soldiers and British open fire, killing 5 Americans
Boston Tea Party Colonists dressed up as Indians, boarded tea ships and dumped tea overboard
Intolerable Acts Closed port of Boston, American town meetings banned, British officials in trouble sent to Great Britian for trial
Effects of American Revoultion Northwest Ordinance of 1787, it set up rules for statehood once 60,000 people, outlawed slavery in new states and gave free education in new states. America broke away from Great Britian.
Impact of American Revolution There was more freedom with slavery, voting, religious ideas and women's rights. Americans attitudes had changed.
