Industrialization The making of products from natural resources.
Petroleum A thick, oily liquid found deep in the earth, used in a natural or refined state as a fuel.
Populism Supporting the rights and power of ordinary people.
Progressivism Social reform movement based on improving society through the power of government.
Prohibition The period of time from 1920 to 1933 in the U.S. when it was illegal to make or sell alcohol.
Reform To improve (someone or something) by removing or correcting faults, problems.
Sufferage the right to vote
Wildcatter An American term for a person who drills wildcat wells, which are exploration oil wells drilled in areas not known to be oil fields.
Urbanization The increasing number of people that live in urban areas. It predominantly results in the physical growth of urban areas,
boom and bust cycle an economic pattern characterized by periods of economic growth and periods of economic decline
