purpose for Schmorl Tech id reducing substances (will stain melanin, argentaffin granules, and formalin pigment)
principle for Schmorl Tech reducing substances reduce ferric ions to ferrous ions, ferrous ions combine with ferricanyide present in stan to form insoluble precipitate of ferrous ferricyanide (turnbull blue)
fix for Schmorl Tech NBF preferred
tech 4-5 chem cleaned glassware
qc for Schmorl Tech section with melanin or argentaffin granules
reagents ferric chloride/potassium ferricyanide "working mix" - reduce ferric ions to ferrous ions that react with ferricyanide to form ferrous ferricyanide, mucicarmine - stain's mucin, metanil yellow - counterstain
