| tertiary industry | The segment of the economy that provides services to its consumers. |
| ethnocentrism | An attitude that one’s own social or cultural group is better than others. |
| ozone layer | The layer of the atmosphere that filters out most of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. |
| Ring of Fire | A large area where tectonic plate boundaries surround the Pacific Ocean rim that contains many active volcanoes. |
