How did slavery increase racism? Slaves were all from Africa, so it was easy for settlers to look down on anyone with darker skin
How did the settlers treat freed Africans? unfairly
Did all NC slaves work anywhere other than plantations? Yes. They worked in people's homes, businesses and everywhere.
Did slave owners treat slaves differently? Yes. Some were more cruel than others. Some allowed their slaves to read, others did not. Slaves who worked in the house were treated better than slaves who worked the fields.
Did anyone try to stop slavery? Several states tried to outlaw slavery.
How did African culture influence the colonies?
Describe the Middle Passage. Dark, difficult, and cruel. Africans were chained to beds for most of the voyage. They could not move. Many died.
Who captured Africans for slaves? European Traders
Slaves came to the colonies WHEN? They came with the first settlers.
