Political Party A group of individuals with broad common interests who organize to nominate candidates.
Third Party Any party other than one of the two major parties.
Single Issue Party Focuses on one major social, economic, or moral issue.
Ideological Party Focuses on overall change in society.
Splinter Party Splits away from one of the major parties because of disagreement.
Independent Not supporting any particular party.
National Convention Gathering of party members,and local and state party officials.
Caucus Private meetings of party leaders.
Primary Elections with a multitude of outcomes.
Plank Individuals becoming delegates.
