Principle Cresyl Echt Luna Nissl susbstance is basophilic and stains sharply with basic aniline dyes. Varying the PH and differentiation, nissl substance and nuclei will stain or only nissl substance will demo.

reagents in order cresyl echt (aniline dye), balsam-xylene (diffr'), absolute (diffr')
results nissl/nuclei (blue to purple), background (colorless
notes should be repeated until background is colorless, alcohol following balsam-xylene will become cloudy and needs frequent changing
