Where did Mansa Musa go? He made the hajj to Mecca, with a huge entourage (lots of people travelled with him) gave out tons of gold to everyone
When Mansa Musa came back what did he do? He built Timbuktu- the center of Muslim trade, science and education, lots of Mosques and universities
Ibn Battuta North American Muslim traveler, spent years (27) visiting other Muslim areas, impressed by Mali
What was the Empire after Mali called? The Songhai Empire
Who were the great leaders of the Songhai Empire? Sunni Ali and Askia Muhammad
What was the downfall of Songhai? they lacked modern weapons
What happened to the Songhai? They were conquered by an army from Morocco who had gunpowder and canons.
