Analects Collection of sayings by Confucius
Buddhism Religion based on the teachings of The Buddah
Dynasty A series of rulers from the same family.
Examination System Tests required for all Chinese who were interested in a government position
Grand Canal Built to connect the Huang He and the Yangtze rivers- it increased trade.
Huang He River The second largest in Asia. oused many deaths due to flooding.
Kong Fuzi Also known as Confucius - he wanted balance, peace, law and order.
Li Po Famous Chinese poet that wrote about people and nature.
Mandate of Heaven The right to rule in ancient China.
Novels Long stories. Chinese wrote them in a language that ordinary Chinese could understand. Prior to that, only nobles and scholars could read them.
Oracle Bones Animal bones or shells that were used to determine a person's future.
Peasants Poor farmers and workers
Tiananmen Square Massacre A student protest in Tiananmen Square against communism that went very badly. The result was death of many people.
Warring States A period of time in China when large kingdoms fought for power.
