| Onomatopoeia | The use of words that sound like the noise or action they make |
| Passage | A story or poem |
| Personification | When an object takes on HUMAN qualities |
| Persuasive | Writing that is meant to change the way a reader thinks or acts |
| Plot | The action or events that make up the story |
| Prefix | Word parts that come at the BEGINNING of the word |
| Setting | The time and place of a story |
| Suffix | Word parts that come at the END of the word |
| Summarize | To give the most important information about the beginning, middle, and end of a story |
| Supporting Details | Details about the story that supports the main idea |
| Tone | The attitude of the author towards the audience and characters |
