John Winthrop First governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Roger Williams Puritan minister who founded the colony of Rhode Island. He believed that colonists shouldn't take land that belonged to Native Americans. He bought the land from the Narranganstett and Rhode Island became the first to establish religious freedoms.
Anne Hutchison A woman who had different beliefs than her fellow colonists and was banished from the Massachusetts Bay colony and founded Portsmouth, Rhode Island
Thomas Hooker Puritan minister who founded the colony of Connecticut after he believed that each church should be independent.

Fernando Gorges Proprietor of Maine until it became part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony
Metacomet Wampanoag sachem also known as King Philip who led the Native Americans to battle the colonists.

Boston First settlement of the Massachusetts Bay Colony
Massachusetts Bay Company Founded by wealthy Puritans to have King Charles I to allow them to establish a colony in America so they could practice their own religious beliefs.
They brought horses for transportation, hunting, and farming. They also brought cows for milk and food. Also everyone in the colony - even the kids - worked to farm and build the community. How were the Puritans better prepared for settlement than the Pilgrims?
They often had religious disagreements - like freedom of religion and on whether it was good to take land from Native Americans. Why did some Puritans rebel against their leaders?
The colonists stole too much land from the Native Americans that it didn't allow them to survive well. Why did Metacomet fight the colonists?
