What is a Grigot and why are they important? West African storytellers. They are important because they pass down knowledge and history to the next generation.
What are the important rivers of West Africa? Niger River, Congo river, and the Senegal River
Why are the rivers of West Africa important? The rivers were important for growing crops, trade, food, and transportation
What came first, Ghana or Mali? The kingdom of Ghana came first. Ghana's decline led to the rise of Mali by Sundiata Keita
What are important trade items in west Africa? iron weapons were traded, and salt was treated like gold.
What are the important cities of West Africa? The Mali capital of Timbuktu was a center of Islamic culture
What happened to the slave market after Europeans arrived in Africa? The Portuguese were the first Europeans to take slaves in 1441. As European countries expanded their territories in North and South America, more slaves were taken and sold as labourers.
How did Ghana become rich? Ghana controlled the area between the Senegal and Niger rivers, so they were able to control trade of gold From the south and salt from the north. They taxed merchants who passed through their land
