What and Where is the Erie Canal? Man made canal built through New York state extending the Hudson River and connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.
What is the National Road? Road from Maryland to Illinois traveled by settlers heading west. But travel was difficult because of mud and it was expensive to travel.
What were early railroads made of? Wood topped with iron.
How were trains first powered? Horses pulled the carts along the rails.
