Scintific Methology

Observation What is seen or measured
Infrence a conclusion based on observation or evidence
Hypothesis Untested prediction. good ones states both cause and effect.
Theory A broad explanation of natural events that is supported by strong evidence.
Controlled experiment Compares the result of an experiment of two or more groups.
Experimental group group being tested or receiving the treatment.
Control Group Normal Group, should be identical in every way, does not receive treatment.
Placebo sugar pill or fake treatment given to control group so subjects don't know what group their in.
Independent Variable Variable that is being tested. in a Graph the independent variable is always plotted on the X axis.
Dependent Variable Variable that is measured at the end of the experiment. The dependent variable is always plotted on the Y axis.
