what was a defensive league? a protected group.
since the league had it headquarters on an island, Delos, what was it called? the Delian League. (Sparta did NOT join the league.)
why did the city states have to ask for permission to sail or trade? Athens was gaining more power and used the city states money.
who was the main leader of Athens? Pericles.
who was Pericles known as? the first citizen.
how did Pericles become the first citizen? b y rebuilding Athens and making it a better place.
where did Pericles get the money from to rebuild Athens? the Delian League.
who built the Long Walls? Pericles.
what were the Long Walls? they were parallel, walls that connected Athens with its seaport of Piraeus.
how long were the Long Walls? about 5 miles long.
how long did Pericles lead Athens for? almost 30 years.
