| archaeologist | scientist who studies the artifacts of people who lived long ago and draws conclusions from them. |

| Mound Builders | a culture of people who lived in east of the Mississippi River that were farmers who lived and settled in communities. They built mounds for religious purposes or burying important chiefs. |
