Gilded Age Refers to a time in American history, when on the surface everything seemed marvelous or golden, when on the inside things were not so good or as good as they seemed. Embraced INDIVIDUALISM and SOCIAL DARWINISM
Social Darwinism Reinforced the idea of Individualism. Belief that society progressed and became better because only the fittest survived.
Gospel of Wealth Philosophy that held wealthy Americansbore the responsibility of engaging in philanthropy using their great fortunes to further social progress. Carnegie did this.
Individualism Belief that anyone could go from rags to riches if they had the drive.
