Nativism Dislike of new immigrants and preference for native-born (US) people. Wanted to limit immigration. Nativists discriminated against new immigrants. (Thought some were immigrants themselves).
Chinese Exclusion Act Law that barred Chinesee immigration for 10 years and prevented Chineses already in US from becoming citizens.
Ellis Island Processing center for immigrants arriving on the east coast. Tiny island off NYC.
Angel Island Housing barracks in CA for Asian immigrants. Not a good standard of living.
