Cattle drives | Ranchers in Texas rounded up cattle and drove them hundreds of miles north to the rail lines. They could get 10 times the price they could get in Texas! |
Barbed wire | Fencing that was easy and cheap. Used to create barriers from others, water, food sources. Kept others out of their land. Ended excitement of long cattle rides. |
Chisolm Trail | Route from Texas to Abeline, Kansas where the railways were. Long cattle drives on this trail. |
