Prairie a dry, mostly flat grassland with few trees
Tributary a river or stream that flows into another river
Levee a high riverbank that stops the river from overflowing
Lock a part of a waterway that is closed off by gates

Homestead a piece of land given to someone to settle and farm
Reservation land set aside by the government for American Indians
