| developing country | a poor agricultural country that is seeking to become more advanced economically and socially |
| birth rate | the number of live births per thousand of population per year |
| death rate | the ratio of deaths to the population of a particular area or during a particular period of time, usually calculated as the number of deaths per one thousand people per year |
| immigration rate | the amount of people that come into the country in one year |
| emigration rate | the amount of people that leave the country in one year |
| natural increase | the rate of natural increase is the crude birth rate minus the crude death rate of a population |
| exponential rate | Exponential growth occurs when the growth rate of the value of a mathematical function is proportional to the function's current value. Exponential decay occurs in the same way when the growth rate is negative |
