Christianity | Christianity was a new religion in Rome. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ. |
Babtize | A ritual in which a person is welcomed into a religion. |
Jesus | Jesus Christ was put to death on the cross and was believed to be the son of God and rose from the dead. |
Disciple | The disciples were mostly simple, plain spoken people- laborers and fisherman. |
Constatine | Constantine was an emperor and had a dream about Jesus the night before going into battle. The next day, all of the soldiers went into battle with the first two letters of "christ" on their shields. Constantine now favored the Christian god. |
parable | A simple story that explains a moral or religious lesson. |
Judea | Judea was the birthplace of Jesus. |
crucify | To kill someone by hanging them on the cross. |
prefect | A high official in ancient Rome. |
ressurect | To rise from the dead |
New testament | The writing of the life of Jesus. |
gospels | An account of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. |
missionary | Someone who tries to persuade others to believe in his or her religion. |
Messiah | A savior that many Jews believe had been promised by God. |
