| baptize | A ritual by which a person is welcomed into a religion |
| Jesus | A man who lived from about 6 B.C.E to 27 C.E. and upon whose life and teachings Christianity is based. Christians refer to him as Jesus Christ. |
| disciple | A person who helps spread the religious teachings of another |
| Constantine | The emperor of Rome who in 312 C.E. had a dream about Jesus Christ before a battle |
| parable | A simple story that explains a moral or religious lesson |
| Judea | A remote territory on the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea where Jesus was born |
| crucify | A painful way of death for Roman rebels, to crucify is to nail to a cross and leave to die |
| prefect | A high official in ancient Rome |
| ressurect | When something dead is brought back to life |
| New Testament | It is made up of the all the gospels |
| blasphemy | A disrespectful act or statement against God |
| gospels | An account of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ |
| missionary | Someone who tries to persuade others to believe in his or her religious teachings |
| Messiah | A savior that many Jews believed had been promised by God |
