TermDefinition
Latitude The measured distance north or south from the equator of a point on the earth's surface,
Longitude The Measured distance east or west from the prime meridian of a point on the earth's surfac
Hemisphere Half of a circle. The earth is divided into 4 hemispheres (North, South, East, and West
Prime Meridian An imaginary line that stretches around the world. It is 0 degrees longitude.
Equator An imaginary line around that circles the earth. The line is equal distance from the North and South poles. The equator is 0 degrees latitude.
Aztec A Pre-Columbian civilization that lived in Central America. Known for their large pyramids, human sacrifices, and strong armies.
Inca A Pre-Columbian civilization that lived in the Andes Mountains. Known for their stone work and elaborate road system.
Taino A Pre-Columbian civilization that lived in the Caribbean Islands. This was the first civilization to encounter the Spanish
