| homo sapiens | The biological classification of human beings. |
| Hunter-Gatherers | An individual or a culture that lives by hunting wild game and fish and gathering plants, fruit, seeds and honey. |
| agriculture | Working the land in order to grow particular things on it. |
| domestication | Taming to make useful to people, as in raising wild animals. |
| migrate | To move from one area to another. |
| glacier | A huge sheet of ice. |
| Paleolithic Age | The period of human culture that began about 750,000 years ago and ended about 15,000 years ago, marked by the earliest use of tools made of chipped stone. |
| Neolithic Age | the latter part of the Stone Age, called the new Stone Age, from 8,000-3,000 B.C. |
