| Initiative | allows voters to submit an ordinance to the legislative body |
| Judicial Branch | Branch that interprets the laws |
| Legislative Branch | Branch that makes the laws |
| Lobbyist | A person who tries to influence legislators |
| Ordinance | A statute or regulation |
| Political Party | organization that shares the same ideas about government |
| Precinct | A voting region |
| Propaganda | material promoted and distributed by the advocates or opponents |
