How did the colonists feel about England and how did England feel about the colonies? Explain ways the colonists showed Salutary Neglect towards the British. Colonies hav formed own governments. Colonists r used to managing their own affairs w/their elected representatives."Taxation without representation."Colonists wanted to hav say in gov thru elected reps.(Colonists were fine w/paying $taxes-brit. wanted >)
Explain British Mercantilism. Colonists provided raw materials for Britain. If colonies received imports the goods had to arrive on British ships. Colonies were to serve as a market for English manufactured goods.
Explain the navigation acts. A series of laws that restricted colonial trade, manufacturing and shipping to other countries. Colonists smuggle and disregard Acts. Salutary Neglect, Britain allowed the colonies to prosper under their protection with little or no control.
Explain the Sugar Act. Tax placed on sugar and molasses(raw material used to make alcohol) because colonists are British subjects. Colonists protest and smuggle sugar and molasses. Colonists start to get more and more boycotts.
Explain the Stamp Act Any item that was made of paper required a stamped tax payment to be made. Colonists argue "taxation with representation stamp act is repealed. Printed materials, legal documents, new paper.
Explain the Intolerable Acts Militias form, colonies send representative to the 1st continental congress meets and stats colonial boycott.
What is the difference between a monarchy and representative government A monarchy has a king, one ruler, parliament was the lawmaking body in England. In a representative government citizens elect their own representatives whol will represent them in government.people create their government and have the right to changelaw.
