What are the three main factors in the Road to Revolution? Salutary Neglect: Applies to Great Britain, British Mercantilism(i.e.buyers/sellers), and British Economic Policies in the Colonies(Parliament with King George III)
What did the Sugar Act put a tax on? Sugar and molasses(raw material used to make alcohol) because colonists were British subjects.
What tax was lowered? Why? Tax on molasses was lowed. This was because he British hoped the lowered tax would encourage colonists to pay the duty on foreign molasses. The British could then collect the tax on molasses and increase their revenues.
What did the Stamp Act put a tax on? The Stamp Act put a tax on any item that was made of paper. Examples include printed materials, legal documents, and newspapers. They all required a stamped tax payment to be made.
How many representatives met at the Stamp Act Congress? What happened at the meeting? Nine representatives met at the Stamp Act Congress. They drafted a petition to the king and Parliament declaring that the colonies could not be taxed except by their own assemblies.
What did the Declaratory Act allow? The Declaratory Act allowed Parliament to tax and make decisions for the British colonies "in all cases whatsoever".
What did the Townshend Acts tax? The Townshend Acts taxed only imported goods. Examples include basic items such as glass, paint, paper, lead and tea.
How did the colonists respond to the Townshend Acts? Colonists smuggled goods, boycotted British goods and fought with British troops. The Sons of Liberty and Daughters of Liberty led the boycotts.

What is the Quartering Act? A law that Parliament passed that required colonies to provide British troops with quarters and supplies. The colonial assemblies voted to refuse to supply these things to British soldiers.
What did the Quebec Act do? Extended land boundaries to Ohio and the Mississippi Rivers.
How many people were invited to meet at the First Continental Congress? Where did they meet? 56 delegates were invited to meet. They met at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
