what are the 12 states of the southeast? Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia.

how is coal formed? plants in swamps die and they sink to the bottom and form peat layers of sediments pressing down on the peat making a thinner layer of peat then sediments=rock puts more pressure on the peat and heats it, turning it into coal.
why 1700s rivers were the fastest way to travel? because highways were not build in the 1700s
in the middle of 1800 what were steamboats and barges loaded with? with grain, rice, and furs.
what does source mean? it means a starting point.
what does mouth mean? it means went a river empties into an ocean or other large body of water.
what is the source of Mississippi? lake Itasca in Minnesota.
where does the Mississippi river empties to? it empties into the Gulf of Mexico.
what is a port? a port is where ships load and unload goods.
what are two important wetlands? Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia and the Florida Everglades.
what is the climate of the southeast? it is worm.
what is a map scale? a map scale help you find real distance on earth.
what is a small map scale? a map that shows few details in a large areas
what is a large map scale? a map that shows a lot of details in a smaller areas
what are some tributaries of the Mississippi river? Ohio river, Tennessee river, Missouri
what is a growing season? it means the number of days the weather is worm enough for crops to grow
what are some reasons why sometimes crops die? because there might be a early cold winter or there was not a lot of water to give to the crops
what are some crops that grow in the southeast? wheat, cotton, oranges, peaches, tomatoes, rice, beans, peanuts, onions, soybeans, sweet potatoes, tobacco, and sugarcanes.
what is a cash crops? it is crop sold for money.
what is an irrigation? it means ditches or pipes that bring water to fields.
what is a tourist? it means people on vacation.
what are some places tourist can visit? Disney world, beaches, camp in national parks, and play sports.
what are some natural resources lesson three? pine trees, coal.
why would young children work in coals mines? because they were the smallest people who can fit in the whole that leads under ground.
what is a labor union? it means a group of worker who try to get better working conditions and to get pay better.
