Who was Alger Hiss? Accused of spying by former Communist spy, Whittaker Chambers. He was later convicted of perjury and sent to jail
What was McCarthyism and who was Joseph Mccarthy? McCarthyism- the belief that communism is present and should be stopped at all costs. Joseph mccarthy was a Republican Senator who Began witch hunts against who he thought were “communists.”
What was the official role of women in the 1950s? Happy Homemaker, and stay at home mom to cook and clean for the family
What is the feeling of women towards the end of the 1950s? Many unhappy / unfulfilled, there are becoming discontent and want more freedom and jobs
What were N.O.W's four goals? 2. = pay for = work, 2. Attack false image of women in the media, sexist slogans, and photos, 3. Call for balance in marriage, shared responsibilities, 4. passing the Civil Rights Act
