Church of England broke away from the catholic church and formed their own religious group
Puritans they wanted to purify the church (correct the wrongs)
Separatists did not agree with some of the practices of the Church of England but they wanted to separate or cut all ties with the church

Joint stock company a group of investors. Pilgrims asked merchants to buy stock so they could start a new colony in North America
Plymouth wanted land by Jamestown but because of bad weather they landed to far north in Cape Cod

Samoset First Native American to make contact with the Pilgrims he was able to speak some English. Learned how to speak from fisherman who visited the area.
