Where did they land in the New World, instead of landing near the Jamestown settlement? | The landed near Cape Cod. Then they sent a scouting party out and named their new settlement Plymouth. |
Why did the Pilgrims land in Cape Cod, not Jamestown? | They were caught in a storm and the storm blew them too far north causing them to land near Cape Cod. |

Why did the Pilgrims leave England in the first place? | The were Separatists, which meant they did not like the things the church did, so if someone found out they would be killed or put in jail. They wanted to separate from the Church of England. |

What was the Mayflower Compact? | The first document that sets up a self- government. A cornerstone of the American form of government. |
Why was Squanto so important to the pilgrims? | A Native that could speak fluid English and he taught the Pilgrims where to fish and how to fertilize fields with fish remains. Without him the Pilgrims would have probably died. |
Who was Samoset? | First Native American to make contact with the Pilgrims. He was able to speak some English, learned from the English fishermen who had visited there. He introduced Squanto to the Pilgrims. |
What was Squanto's backstory? | He left his tribe in America to go to England and when he came back his whole tribe had vanished, so he lived with the Wampanoag tribe. |
Who was the Wampanoag tribe ruled by? | Chief Massasoit. Chief Massasoit and the Pilgrims negotiated a peace agreement that lasted all of the chief's life, thanks to Squanto |
