When England broke away from the Catholic Church what did they do? They formed then Church of England.
What group wanted to correct the wrongs of the church but still belong? Puritans
What group wanted to cut all ties with the Church so they could practice their religion the way they wanted? Separatists
When the Pilgrims first left England, where did they go? Netherlands
Why did the Pilgrims leave the Netherlands? They left because of economic reasons and their children were losing their English customs.
What is a joint-stock company and how did they help the pilgrims? A group of investors who gave money to fund trips to the new world. They helped the pilgrims with money for the Mayflower and Speedwell.
Where did the pilgrims land and was that there original destination? The Cape Cod area of Massachusetts, but they were supposed to land in Virginia closer to Jamestown.
What did the pilgrims name the new town? Plymouth
Who was William Bradford? He was an important leader of Plymouth and he was a minister and the 2nd governor of Plymouth
Why was the Mayflower Compact important? It was the first colonial attempt to self-govern.
Who was Samoset? He was the 1st Native American to make contact with the pilgrims and he could speak English
Who was Squanto? Samoset introduced Squanto to the pilgrims and he taught them how to hunt, fish, build shelters, and fertilize the crops.
Who were the Wampanoag? A group of Native Americans led by Chief Massasoit. He made a peace treaty with the pilgrims.
