Who were the Pilgrims? The pilgrims were a group of people that set out from plymouth, a place in southwestern england in the september of 1620. They illegally broke away from the church because of economic difficulties.
Who broke away from the catholic and formed their own religion? The English.
They wanted to purify the church of england at sea. Puritans wanted to purify the church of england at sea the passengers realised they were outside the bounds of the government authority they had contracted with in england.
People who did not agree with some of the practices of the church of england but they wanted to separate or cut all ties with the church. Separatists.
Pilgrims tried to migrate first to this place but they were losing their english culture they were also not satisfied with the jobs that were available for them. Netherlands.
What is a joint stock company? A group of investors. pilgrims asked merchants to buy stock so that they could start a new colony in north america.
What is Plymouth? The people lived in plymouth england so when the came to america they named the colony they started plymouth.
Who was william bradford? william bradford was the pastor and leader of the church so they made him the governor of the plymouth colony in america.
What was the mayflower compact? The mayflower compact was a document made by the people on board the mayflower so that they would have some form of government in america.it was the first form of self government and was signed by all of the guys on the ship it was a cornerstone of americ
Who was samoset? Samoset was the first native american to make contact with the pilgrims, he was able to speak some english because he learned how to speak english from fishermen who had visited the area.
squanto? Squato taught the pilgrims how to plant corn, where to catch fish and how to fertilize the fields with fish remains.
who were the wampanoag? A group of native american tribes that were ruled by chief massasoits.
why did the pilgrims come to America instead of the Netherlands? Because of economic difficulties and fear that they would lose their english language and heritage, they began to make plans to settle in the new world. They got help from people with joint stock companies.
who helped the pilgrims? 5.They had the indians to give them food and teach them stuff about america and how to survive.
