How are the U.S. and Texas Constitutions alike? There is a bill of rights. There are 3 branches of governments. Government of Laws, and not men.
How does the Judicial Branch in both the U.S. and Texas check the powers of the legislature? The judicial branch can declare a law unconstitutional.
What is one way the Texas Constitution is different from the U.S. Constitution? The governor has more limited powers.
What is popular sovereignty? The right of the people to vote.
How is republicanism reflected in both the U.S. and Texas Constitutions? Both Constitutions elect representatives to the legislatures.
What is the Supreme Law of the Land in the United States? The U.S. Constitution
What 3 branches of government are divided by the constitution? The Legislative Branch, The Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch
What is Federalism? The division of power between the Federal government and the states.
What are checks and balances? Each branch of the government's power to check or limit the actions of the other two.
What is limited government? The only power a government can have that a constitution gives.
