TermDefinition
Term A limited or definite extent of time; especially.
Session A meeting or series of meetings of a body (as a court or legislature) for the transaction of business.
Adjourns To end something (such as a meeting or session) for a period of time
Special Sessions An extraordinary session.
Apportion To divide (something) among or between people : to give (a part of something) to a number of people.
Reapportion To apportion (as a house of representatives) anew
Off Year Election Refer to general elections in the United States that are held in odd-numbered years
Single-Member District An electoral district that returns one officeholder to a body with multiple members such as a legislature.
At-Large Considered altogether or the country at large
Gerrymander To divide (a State) into districts for the choice of representatives, in an unnatural and unfair way, with a view to give a political party an advantage over its opponent.
Continuous Body The legislature is a continuous body during the term for which its members are elected.
Constituencies Is a distinct territorial subdivision for holding a separate election for one or more seats in a legislative body.
Trustee Person granted legal custodianship over property not belonging to him; one who is appointed to administer an institution (Law).
Partisans One who fervently supports a specific group or cause.
Delegate Authorize; appoint as representative; confer authority.
Politicos Politicians, one who is involved in politics.
Oversight Function Our elected officials are charged to oversee how our money is spent, how the government is run.
Franking Privilege Is a perk which grants an elected official the right to send mail through the postal system for free, often simply by signing his or her name where the postage stamp would normally be placed.
