Who were the separatists? protestants also known as pilgrims

What is a representative government? a government with representatives of the people, for the people and by the people
What was the middle passage? the voyage for slaves between Africa and the West Indies
What basic rights did John Locke's theory of human rights say all Humans were born with? John Locke's theory of human rights say all humans were born with life, liberty and property.
How did Locke's theory influence government in England and the colonies? John Locke's theory influenced governments that the government was there to protect basic rights.
Why would the colonists need a representative government? Colonists needed a representative government because of their distance from their mother country. The colonists wanted to have a say in government and needed to stay in order.
How was slavery an institution? Slavery was an institution because it served the government and the people. There were laws written for what could and couldn't be done.
What were three motivating factors for exploration of the new world? The three motivating factors are gold, glory and god. They moved so they can worship their own god. They moved to gain more golds. The last motivating reason why they moved was to find glory.
Describe the factors that led to the growth of the colonies? The colonies grew because of trade, new life and wealth. The colonists wanted to start fresh and traded different goods. They got all of their wealth from the slaves profit.
Describe the factors that led to the growth of slavery? Slavery grew because there were more plantations and money for people. They got the money for people because of slaves made lots of crops.
Compare and Contrast indentured servitude and slavery. Indentured servants-had hope to one day being free, white men/ women, limbs were not cut off Both- worked very hard long hours, food, home to live in, sometime married or have children Slavery- would never become free, black men/women,limbs were cut off
