French Indian War, Explorers, Colonists and Slavery

British gain interest in Ohio River Valley, which has been French territory- Battle of Fort Necessity British declare war on French in Europe- Seven Years' War, and fighting continues between the two nation in the colonies

Large Struggle between French and British over world trade and power over the seas Treaty of Paris--> British defeat the French in Quebec. France has to give lands east to the Mississippi to Great Britain and the acquire Florida from Spain. Ends French power in North America
Why did the colonists need a representative government? The colonists needed a representative government because of their distance from their mother country. They wanted a say in government and needed to stay in order.
What is the triangular trade route? trade goods between Europe, Africa and the Americas (look more on page 91)
Why did the separatists immigrate to the new world? The separatists wanted to escape religious persecution and economic hard times.
In what ways did slaves resist enslavement? Slaves resisted enslavement by running away, killing themselves, rebellion, and disobeying.
Compare and Contrast indentured servitude and slavery. Indentured Servants- had hope to one day being free, white men/women, limbs were not cut off Both-worked hard long hours, food, houses to live in, sometimes married or had children Slaves- would never become free, black men/women, limbs were cut off
What were the three motivating factors for exploration of the new world? The three motivating factors are gold, glory, and god. They moved so they can worship their own god. They moved to gain more golds. The last motivationg reason why they moved was to find glory.
Who was John Locke? John Locke was an English philosopher who influenced the farmers of the constitution.
What was the middle passage? the voyage for slaves between Africa and the West Indies
What factors led to the growth of the colonies? The factors that led to the growth of the colonies because of trade, new life, and wealth. The colonists wanted to start fresh and traded different goods. The colonists got their wealth from all of the slavery profits.
