volcano an opening in the earth through which lava ash and smoke are pushed out
rain shadow an area on a mountain that dosent have rain because clouds above have lost moisture
the northeast is made up of the New England states & the Middle Atlantic states
piedmont rolling hills at the foot of the Appalachian mnts
boswash an example of a megalopolis from boston to Washington dc
southeast is made of 12 states many crops are grown there
Middle West is made up of the great lakes states and the plain states. it is called America's breadbasket because it produces a lot of wheat
South west is made up of Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona
The three A's aquaducts, air conditioning and automobiles
West is made up of the pacific states and the mountain states
Rain Falling west of continental divide flows into the Pacific Ocean
jobs that provide info to others newspaper publishing radio and tv
the northeast is a busy region because... large population and center for manufacturing and communication
landforms found in the northeast are... mountains hills and plains
crops grown in S.E. cotton fruits veggies sugarcane tabacco
natural resources attract industry to the southeast
the boll weevil destroyed the cotton so farmers began growing other crops
Industry is located near the great lakes because it's near low-cost transportation.
The Mid West is called "America's Bread Basket" because it supplies most of our nations food.
Wheat farmers face unpredictable weather, bugs, crops, diseases, and low prices for crops.
Solar energy, oil & natural gas, and uranium are resources used to create energy in the Southwest
Aquaducts brings water from rivers to cities and farms.
Air conditioning lets people live in comfort and auto mobiles allow people to go long distances in a short time.
The Southwest has plains, mountains, plateaus and canyons.
The climate is mild and much of it is in arid America
Limited water is a major worry of people beginning businesses in the West.
Mountain and Plateaus make the West a high and dry region.
