| meridian | another name of a line of longitude |
| prime meridian | line of longitude at 0 degrees |
| cartographer | person who makes maps |
| cardinal directions | four points on a compass (N,S,E,W) |
| intermediate directions | directions halfway between the cardinal directions (NE, NW, SE, SW) |
| compass rose | drawing that indicates directions on a map |
