DS landforms
| Term | Definition |

| bay | a body of water that is partly surrounded by land and that is connected to a larger body of water |
| river mouth | the point where a river enters a lake or sea |
| archipelago | a chain or cluster of islands |
| Glaciers | a huge, slow moving mass of snow and ice |
| hill | lower and steeper that a mountain |
| butte | a small high flat topped cliff like landform |
| ismas | a narrow strip of land that connects two larger areas pf land |
| delta | a plain at the mouth of the river, often triangular, formed where a sediment is deposited by flowing water. |
| lake | large body of water surrounded by lands |
| tiributary | a river or stream that flows into a large river. |
| caynon | a deep, narrow valley with steep sides often with a stream |
| basin | an area that is lower that the surrounding land areas often filled with water |
| mesa | a high flat topped land forms with cliff like sides |
| plain | a large area of flat rolling land |
| mountain | a landform that rises steeply, wide bottom, narrow peak |
| volcano | an opening it the earths surface with molten rocks and gases escape from the interior |
| island | an area of land that is completely surrounded by water |
| penisula | an are that is almost surrounded by water but connected to the mainland |
| strait | a narrow stretch of water that connects two larger bodies of water. |
| platue | a large, area that rises above the surrounding land. |
| river source | where the river originates or begins. |
| valley | a low stretch of land, between of hills |
