Vocabulary Terms for Causes of Civil War

Cash Crop an agricultural crop which is grown to return a profit.
Plantation a large farm where crops are grown for sale
Slave Quarters the building in which slaves lived
Agricultural describing an economy based on farming and the raising of animals
Industrial describing an economy based on manufacturing and factory work
Economy the way in which an area produces, trades, and consumes goods
Auction the process of selling something by offering it for a bid and selling it to the highest bidder
Narrative a story of account of events
Compromise an agreement reached by each party giving up some of their demands to get others
Abolitionist a person who tries to abolish slavery
