Limited Government The principle that requires all U.S. citizens to obey the law.
Constitution A document that explains a form of government.
Federalism A system of government where power is shared among the federal and state governments.
Separation of Powers the division of basic government roles into branches
Popular Sovereignty a government in which the people rule
Individual rights personal liberties guaranteed to U.S. citizens in the Bill of Rights
Geography the study of the spatial aspects of the earth and the people who live on it.
Checks and Balances the ability of each branch of government to exercise controls of the other branches
Republicism a belief that government should be based on the consent of the people; people vote for representatives
Exploration travel undertaken to discover what a place is like or where it is
Expedition travel undertaken by a group of people with a definite purpose.
Conquistador a Spanish explorer seeking wealth and lands in the Americas.
Equator 0 degrees imaginary line that divides Earth into Northern and Southern hemisphere.

Nomad a person who moves from place to place and has no home.
